A Little Bit Of History …

During the Civil War, the area of Barbridge was turned into barracks for the troops which were part of the Battle of Nantwich. Conflict between enemies fought just across from the pub.

King Charles I visited and stayed in the barracks around 1644. This is how the pub got its original name, The Kings Arms, which was to honor the Kings visit.

The Kings Arms run as a pub for many years, however, it was left derelict around 1975, which led to the refurbishment in 1978/79. Several years after it reopened, the new owners renamed it to The Olde Barbridge Inn. Over the years the pub has seen many owners.

In February of 2012 the owner and executive head chef acquired The Barbridge Inn and after some changes, James Perrins and his team have proudly put it back on the map for tourists, foodies and locals alike.

The Barbridge Inn now thrives with guests from far and wide, decorated with vintage knick-knacks and dark wood which gives it that traditional feel.

During the summer months you can make a visit to The Wood Shack where you can feast on freshly baked wood fired pizza, perfect to enjoy in our spacious beer garden which also boasts an enclosed children’s play area, on the cooler evenings you can grab a blanket and light the fire pits.

We have moorings and offer 24-hour free mooring which gives you the freedom to cruise the beautiful waterways of the Shropshire union canal. During the winter months we offer longer stays, to arrange this please speak to a member of our staff.

We host a variety of monthly live bands, open mic nights and a quiz night which are often a great night where locals and visitors alike enjoy the relaxed vibe and great atmosphere. To keep up to date with who’s playing, you can visit our social media pages or check out our what’s on section.
